Original title design

So I decided to change my title design. The original is quite good IMO but when I wanted to submit my cover for Mangaplus Creators they have a thumbnail design that's too restrictive . It uses 1 thumbnail for 3 different sizes  and ratio. Everything beyond the ratio is cut off. So most of the time the title is either cut off completely or not appearing right. So I design a new one.

I also change the back from earlier version with picture background, to plain color gradient to some effect depicting a "HALO". Why halo? Hey, it's magical so it has to be.

Small update

 

Redefining Iinchou and class representative chara

 I've gotta admit, this turns out better than I expected.

I wanted to have small class rep character or Iinchou in general, or usually "class monitor" where l'm coming from. However the Iinchou character trope is too well defined and cliché as he'll. Well mostly for the fun meta of it. And nobody complaining 🤣.

So when I try to reimagine my Iinchou character I wanted something different. Not out of the ordinary but something unrelated. And while I do get inspiration from some character in British comedy, when I put it in person it become something else altogether.

Somewhere in the future there will be one character in dreadlocks and it's going to be very cliché. So here I'm putting something as a pre load or buffer to that. How about that character sisters in the same class as MC?

And to put into contrast I wanted to have some cute deadlock girls too. And this is the result. To be honest it might be cuter than 2 of the MC lol.

Maybe I'll add more of her in teh story. I'll think about it. 

Very inconsistent result. but to fix everything everytime is time consuming

This is page 6 of my manga. Mixing 3d background keep going better even for simple thing like a room. I even learn some neat techniques to auto-create outline around characters to differentiate character and bg. However, as you can see here the result is quite inconsistent.

I can't keep fixing small things just to get it to look right. I'm losing considerable time already. To release a full manga in the end of this month is not gonna happen. 

Hopefully, this is just a teething problem as I getting used to clip studio.

Background render success! at least not that bad

Oh, it only took me a week or so, TO FINISH a single background!!!

After experimenting for a while I get a good enough result that can be implemented. however, a direct export from SketchUp is not ideal because it cannot handle dpi. everything is exported at 96dpi while I must get at least 300 for the best result. Maybe I'll try manipulating it further in an image editing program but surprisingly clip studio does have a good tool when importing background images. to reduce moire I think I'll stick to 25 degrees for now, as 45 in default clip studio gets messed up easily.

Maybe I could do some in-depth process on how to do this next time if I had the time
